North Carolina Public Radio WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a Marketing and Communications Manager.
WUNC’s mission is to provide high-quality news, cultural and entertainment content to create a more informed and engaged community. The Marketing & Communications Manager position supports that mission by marketing WUNC content to the community on multiple platforms. This position works cross-departmentally to identify promotional priorities across the organization and is responsible for the planning and implementation of a broad range of marketing, digital and public relations campaigns. With an audience-first focus, this position will foster connections within the community, manage brand integrity and promote awareness of the services and content that utilizes all avenues of communication. With a focus on local value, this position will help market WUNC’s content to current and new audiences. Reporting to the Development Director, this position will lead marketing and brand strategy.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead strategic efforts to leverage the WUNC brand in making it more relevant, compelling, and relentlessly visible, helping grow our audiences and reach new groups in our local and national communities. Working with senior leaders, this position will direct the overall marketing and promotional strategy for WUNC– on all platforms (FM, social media, Digital, Podcasts), promoting programs, initiatives, events and stories of impact to key audiences and constituencies. Designing marketing campaigns, building new vendor relationships, and helping WUNC cement its reputation as one of the most influential public radio stations in the Southeast.
