The successful candidate must be a skilled individual adept at the latest technology in Electronic News Gathering to provide seamless, uninterrupted maintenance of equipment in order to ensure quality broadcasts.  Candidate must exhibit an aptitude for an ever-changing news environment, problem-solving, ability to adjust to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with newsroom managers and assignment desk to provide coverage commensurate with the number one television station in the country.

This position is jurisdictional and covered by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians-ABC collective bargaining agreement. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversees the maintenance and repair of newsgathering equipment in our fleet of 30 news vehicles

• Troubleshoot unanticipated issues which could arise throughout the day and adapt and prioritize while multi-tasking.  

• Anticipate equipment maintenance needs, work with the operations managers on the procurement of equipment.

• Stay ahead of trends and changes in the advancement of electronic newsgathering equipment.

• Maintains inventory aimed at keeping ENG operations moving forward

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of experience working in a news environment with the ability to work independently, be adaptable to last-minute changes, and meet strict deadlines.

• Must have experience working on ENG equipment within live trucks

• Have experience with RF equipment such as broadcast transmitters, microwave equipment, etc.

• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Be a self-starter and able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as a part of a diverse team.

• Be project-oriented, organized, and able to show a list of previously executed projects from concept to completion.

• Be willing to expand their knowledge with emerging broadcast industry concepts/technologies.

Required Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or a related field
