Job Description:

WABC-TV is looking for an Associate Producer for its Community Engagement and Development department.  The ideal candidate must have substantial administrative experience, video editing proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. With multidisciplinary responsibilities, this successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate and assist other producers and content creators from other departments within WABC.

 

As an Associate Producer, you would be a key member of a dynamic, fast-paced team that aligns community outreach efforts with news, programming, marketing, sales, and talent with cause-related events and campaigns that support WABC-TV across multiple platforms.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organize, and facilitate meetings, travel, and communications

  • Manage budget monitoring of the Cost Center within the Community Engagement and Development department

  • Produce and edit PSA’s for WABC and its partners

  • Produce and edit video spots that raise awareness about station events, programs, and initiatives

  • Create custom and original content for the station’s social/digital properties, driving community and audience engagement

  • Manage the station’s community calendar for public events for all platforms

  • Ensure the interface and coordinate actions between internal and external interlocutors

  • Manage budget monitoring of the Cost Center within the Community Engagement and Development department

  • Coordinate station activities, events, and tours

  • Work on special projects as needed

  • Draft letters, emails, and publicity releases on behalf

  • Produce/edit content for social, station initiatives, PSAs

  • Facilitate meetings, travel, communications, station events

  • Outreach, relationship building with community orgs, charities

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of general work experience; some non-linear video editing experience preferred (e.g., Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid)

  • Deep understanding of video production for broadcast and streaming outlets

  • Sharp written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables

  • A strong work ethic and desire to truly be helpful to your leaders and co-workers, to go the extra mile without being asked

  • Experience working with on-air talent and in a deadline-driven news environment is a plus

  • Some flexibility in your schedule – we value work/life balance, but in a pinch, a bit more time is needed

  • Very strong organizational skills and extreme attention to detail

  • A highly professional demeanor, positive outlook, and a can-do attitude.

 

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or a related field

The hiring range for this position in New York is $55,000 to $74,000 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
