Diverse: Issues In Higher Education, a national publication covering diversity, equity and inclusion issues at colleges across the nation, is seeking a senior editor to join its team working out of its Fairfax, Va. office. The senior editor would function in a hybrid capacity, having editing responsibilities both for diverseeducation.com as well as Diverse’s print magazine.
The right candidate will demonstrate strong editing skills and a thorough knowledge of AP style with exceptional attention to detail. The right candidate will also have sharp headline-writing skills and be able to write eye-catching e-mail newsletter subject lines that stand out in a crowd. The senior editor will also be expected to manage in-house writers and a team of freelancers, so management experience in a fast-paced newsroom is a plus. The senior editor will have to interface with a number of content management systems so a successful track record in multimedia journalism is a plus. The senior editor will be expected to do some reporting so well-honed writing skills are also a plus.
