Fellow, Marketplace Morning Report:

Marketplace Morning Report is looking for a dynamic fellow for its Moring Report team. This fellow will work closely alongside our show direct and overnight producer to learn and contribute to the production of five early morning news casts that reach more than 10 million listeners on close to 800 public radio stations across the country. This is an excellent fellowship opportunity for those who have an active interest in audio and business journalism.  This is an overnight shift (2:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.). based out of Marketplace Headquarters in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and perform a variety of production, research, and editorial tasks, including editing audio tape.
  • Write show promos, daily station updates, and other materials.
  • Contribute ideas for stories and other editorial material.
  • Conduct pre-interviews for on-air guests.
  • Database and web project as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in journalism or currently enrolled or have earned graduate degree in journalism or communication.
  • A demonstrated interest in journalism (i.e. produced work for publication, worked at school newspaper/radio, etc.).
  • Must be able to work overnight shift from 2:30-8:30am.
  • Must have the ability to write, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Self-starter with an appetite for learning radio.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in radio journalism.
