WUNC IT Technician, Temporary and Part-Time

North Carolina Public Radio WUNC is hiring a temporary, part-time IT Technician.
WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of seven stations, with a weekly cume of 300,000 listeners.
This position is located in Chapel Hill & Durham, NC.
Salary & Work Schedule - This is a temporary, part-time position for 28 hours/week, Monday thru Thursday for 6 months, not to exceed 11 months. Salary is $25-$30/hr, depending upon qualifications.
Position Description - This position will provide technical support and/or programming to staff which may include installing and configuring computer hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners, diagnosing and solving hardware/software issues and analyzing any underlying issues as necessary. This position will also carry out project management of IT systems upgrades, migrations and organization.
Minimum Education & Experience Required:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration; Networking Technology, or related areas and two years of experience in the Information Technology field related to the position’s role; or a
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role, or a
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred candidates will have:
- Knowledge of Windows OS installation and troubleshooting experience;
- Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP setups for computers, printers, etc.;
- Knowledge of audio studio equipment a plus;
- Ability to research issues and projects;
- Good communication skills;
- Experience in standard office software, PC and Mac OS and hardware;
- Adobe Creative Cloud, sound and video editing software a plus.
