We’re looking for someone who can lead, motivate and inspire a team of talented journalists, from veterans to people just launching their careers. The ideal candidate is someone who can push our newsroom to create relevant and memorable stories on different platforms that resonate with a wide and diverse audience. Helping edit and shape strong journalism is a must, but taking care of journalists is important, too. The ideal candidate is empathetic and inclusive and committed to creating a newsroom culture that prioritizes creativity, pushing boundaries and collaboration while showing respect for all team members.
General Summary
The Senior Editor manages day-to-day news coverage across all platforms; and works with editors and reporters to develop ideas for features, daily spots, interviews and digital content. S/he collaborates with the Executive Editor on developing coverage priorities and newsroom growth and serves as the back-up to the Executive Editor in running daily editorial operations and representing the newsroom to the larger organization. This position will also helps define and maintain ethical, editorial, artistic and technical standards for broadcast news. Finally, the Senior Editor will manage the Hartford and New Haven newsrooms and the staff of local reports on Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
