The ideal candidate will be well-organized, deadline-oriented, collaborative, and ambitious.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Develop compelling ideas for opinion pieces in conjunction with the editor-in-chief; identify and recruit writers; build relationships with researchers, officials, policymakers, and others with new ideas about public health from across the breadth of the field.
• Edit and craft arguments across a wide range of complex scientific and institutional topics; manage the process from commission through publication, including editing and proofreading pieces and crafting outstanding headlines both for print and for SEO.
• Work with the Editor-In-Chief to devise and execute a newsletter strategy, including content options, frequency, and format; develop and manage a network of freelancers and work with staff writers to produce the content, ensuring that they deliver accurate, engaging content in a timely fashion; edit their work and work with the editorial team to consistently deliver in a timely fashion. The Senior Editor may also write some newsletters.
• Collaborate with the Harvard Chan School Senior Social Media Manager to conceptualize new ways to share engaging content on the School's social channels and on specific channels to be developed for the magazine.
• Post stories on the magazine's website and work with other members of the team on selecting images to accompany the stories.
• Stay abreast of major issues in public health and ongoing developments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
