From developing, training and mentoring reporters to evaluating final products, the Special Projects Director will manage the entire process. At WFMJ, the Special Projects Director is a management role and the Special Projects Director is hands-on in the formulation and effectuating of WFMJ management policy. You’ll be the manager who is completely in charge of the production. You will develop story ideas, select and assign reporters to work on the special project stories you and the senior News department management of WFMJ decide to pursue, guiding them through their reporting process, fact checking their work for accuracy, sending them back to do better, approving the final script and developing staff members in other key areas you assign. You may also have other exciting opportunities to contribute to WFMJ’s success. Youngstown, Ohio is a market on the move. We’ve re-invented ourselves as an urban, foodie, tech corridor with a low cost of living, great bike paths and parks, microbreweries, summer festivals galore and really, really nice people. Don’t let the market size fool you. WFMJ is a first-class station that will pay competitively for good talent. Plus, we’re locally owned so we treat our employees like family. Ask around.
