In These Times, a national, monthly magazine that has covered politics and social movements from the left since 1976, is seeking a full-time investigative editor.
The editor will work primarily on stories for In These Times’ Leonard C. Goodman Institute for Investigative Reporting, which offers competitive rates to support ambitious investigations that are published in In These Times and InThe?se?Times?.com, as well as in partnership with other outlets. The Institute has made a name for itself uncovering corporate wrongdoing, exposing the wages of U.S. warmongering, and telling the stories of low-wage workers, Native people and others to whom the mainstream media gives short shrift.
The editor will be responsible for managing all aspects of an investigation, from writer recruitment and story selection to publication and promotion, as well as co-running the Institute with In These Times’ Executive Editor. The Goodman Institute supports both early-career and established investigative reporters; the investigative editor should be adept at calibrating their editing to the author’s experience level and generous with mentorship and support.
You will join a close-knit team that cares passionately about economic, racial and climate justice. We’re also a proud union workplace with an internal culture that strives to live up to the ideals we advocate every day through our journalism.
