Position Information:
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Location: St. Paul, MN or remote (anywhere within the U.S.A.)
- Start Date: June 7, 2021 – May 27, 2022 (1 year fellowship)
- Compensation: $16/hour - $20/hour (salary will be based on individual's education and/or relevant experience)
Fellow, Community Engagement:
As the Community Engagement Fellow, you will be joining a multi-faceted team whose mission is to create more relevant, inclusive and impactful community engagement in order grow new and diverse Audiences. You will have a direct hand in the following:
- Build new connections and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with BIPOC Influencers and community organizations
- Support impact evaluations and assessments to better understand our Audiences and gain insights to make data-driven decisions
- Synthesize data and insight information into clearly-articulated oral and/or written presentations and recommendations
Key Learning Goals:
- Build new contacts and relationships with BIPOC Influencers and community organizations
- Learn to manage multiple community stakeholders projects e.g. create a community meeting agenda with a measurable outcome, facilitate meetings with multiple community stakeholder to find common goals, execute complex community projects to benefit MPR|APM's public mission
- Develop strong analytical skills with the ability to do basic research such as literature reviews and impact evaluation
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and executing outreach and training projects. (Outreach e.g. MPR News' In Focus series, Training e.g. MPR News Journalist training)
- Serve as an ambassador and point of contact for MPR|APM to BIPOC community influencers and organizations. (e.g. Implement new partnerships and maintain existing partnerships with LPFM radio stations and BIPOC media groups)
- Assist with synthesizing, summarizing listening session surveys and presenting it to an internal and external Audience

Programming:
- Participate in robust on-boarding experience

Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Master or Doctorate degree OR at least 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Some college course in the humanities or social science or equivalent experience
- Experience listening to and engaging diverse communities with multiple community stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments/divisions
- Passion for inclusion, community engagement and news and music
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to do basic research such as literature reviews
- Diversity and inclusion experience and cross-cultural competency
- Skill in planning, development, and fulfillment of successful multi-faceted, multi-stakeholder projects
- Strong attention to detail, accurate and thorough
- Ability to learn new software and digital applications as required
- Experience with social media
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience evaluating program impact or some college courses in evaluation and assessment e.g. analyzing surveys, reviewing macro data charts and drawing insights.
- One or more years of working directly with BIPOC groups
