This role is for a weekend/day and weekday/evening schedule (potential schedule example is weekend 12- 8pm EST and weekday evening 4pm-midnight EST)

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Manage and program Yahoo's major social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok along with other key platforms across VMG/Yahoo social handles including Yahoo main, News/Finance/Sports/Entertainment & Lifestyle and other related platforms (MAKERS, Cashay, etc.)
  • Develop and grow audience engagement across major social platforms and help editorial leads establish and maintain KPI goals
  • Knowledge of content framing, packaging and demonstrated success in driving traffic and new audiences via social platforms to O&O sites as well as growing platforms on social media
  • Strong 360 interest across different subject areas from news, sports, lifestyle, entertainment and finance so they can optimize and program content effectively
  • Platform leveraging and the ability to leverage multiple channels to grow is a vital part of this position.
  • Work with video producers as needed
  • Stays up to date on current industry trends, evolving strategies and works constantly with editorial and video teams on ensuring all types of social content are following current best practices
  • Understanding of effective social touts and posting cadence to maximize audience engagement and drive referral traffic to Yahoo’s O&O platforms
  • Help editorial leads conceptualize original video and live streaming ideas for social platforms
  • Ideate unique call-to-action campaigns or other creative strategies to promote content


  • Demonstrated success in identifying content that resonates on specific social platforms and growing audiences both in terms of volume and demographic diversity
  • Understanding of social best practices in all aspects across all major platforms (scheduling posts, programming video, content promotion, etc.)
  • Strong writing skills with a sharp eye for creative touts/tweets
  • Strong grammar and communication skills 
  • Experience with social/video platforms for cutting clips and publishing live streams
  • Ability to produce/edit video and create graphics using Adobe Creative Suite a plus
