The Content Producer/Editor is a key member of the Marketing department focused on creatively telling the stories of Roger Williams University in support of enrollment and advancement goals. Reporting to the Director of Content Marketing Strategy, they will provide concept development, writing, editing, and editorial project management skills necessary to create digital content that promotes the university's reputation, faculty research, student experience and institutional messaging to a variety of audiences.
Content Production and Editing
Develop ideas and execute creative, compelling brand journalism and marketing content for the university's websites and digital marketing channels, including RWU social media channels.
Serve an editor, planning and implementing daily and weekly digital marketing communication tactics aligned with the university's communications strategy. Work with and may supervise writers, photographers, videographers, designers, media relations specialists, and marketers, identifying editorial opportunities of interest.
Develop content that engages diverse audiences, is inclusive in nature and tone and advances equity among individuals of different identities.
Ensure that digital channels conform to university publishing policies, editorial style, tone and audience-appropriateness.
Evaluate and monitor metrics for digital channels, making adjustments to editorial calendar plans as needed.
Establish and maintain timely schedules for the production of digital marketing content. Handle confidential and sensitive communications with discretion.
Curate relationships with dean's, department heads and faculty to build and maintain a two-way dialog that will provide insight into academic news, student stories and events.
Help develop engaging web content that illustrates the unique programs and approaches of the University.
Cross-Departmental Project Management
Work cross-departmentally to create and manage content projects that meet the branding values of the university.
Work collaboratively with all University departments to meet specific and changing goals for broad and niche audiences.
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
Three to five years of professional experience in brand journalism, content strategy, or marketing content writing including multimedia or digital content creation experience.
Outstanding writing skills and an intuition about successful brand storytelling.
Strong photography skills to support visual storytelling.
Well developed sense of intercultural fluency and a track record of creating content that advances equity.
Aptitude to translate institutional messages into intriguing stories. Knowledge of PR and/or marketing best practices.
Experience with content creation and promotion for social media outlets.
