The Palm Beach Post seeks to hire a Palm Beach County politics and growth reporter.
Covering the county, its government and other county agencies, this reporter will be tasked with producing enterprise stories – in various formats and platforms – that have impact for our core Palm Beach County audience.
This reporter will mine sources, develop relationships, pore over documents and break news, not just cover spot news. Their stories will include context and depth. They will tackle complex issues of interest and break them down for the masses to easily follow. They will write in-depth enterprise stories that help our audience understand the county and its government, how it works and why it makes the decisions it does.
This reporter will understand what county residents want to know and will be expected to talk to them, engage with them and give their perspective when doing stories.
They’ll dig past what’s said in public forums and unearth plans, projects and proposals under the radar.
This reporter also will cover growth. Forecasts show that within the next decade – certainly 2030 – Palm Beach County will look, work, live and play very differently than it does today.
This reporter will be on top of what planners and policy-makers are doing about growth. They will have a deep institutional knowledge about the county’s past growth and it’s projected future expansion.
They’ll be on top of trends and projections and be part of a large Post Growth Project planned for 2019.
In a dynamic county, we’re looking for a dynamic reporter who’ll pursue these can’t-miss, must-reads for our audience.
