Job Description:

Boston’s award-winning NPR News Station WBUR seeks an experienced, passionate reporter who can create compelling, original investigative stories that affect the lives of people in our region.

At WBUR-FM, we are looking for a collaborative journalist with at least five years of experience in investigative reporting who cultivates sources quickly and develops watchdog story ideas. Radio storytelling experience is preferred.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter with strong interviewing, writing and radio reporting skills. We want a public records (FOIA) wizard who is also comfortable working in Excel and other spreadsheet software to develop findings.

While newsrooms across the country struggle with diminishing resources, WBUR is growing. Our investigative team is determined to hold people accountable in private and public sectors. You will be part of a new three-person investigative team producing multi-platform projects that include radio, digital and live events.

The ideal candidate is diligent about unearthing facts and translating complex issues. Strengths should include juggling deadlines for short and long term projects as well as collaborating with WBUR journalists and partnering with other news organizations.

The team will contribute to local content on several programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Radio Boston. WBUR, an affiliate of NPR, produces more hours of national programming every week than any other public radio station in America. Its national programs include Here & Now, On Point and Only a Game. Podcasts include Last Seen, Modern Love, Endless Thread and Edge of Fame.

Submit a cover letter that includes three investigative story ideas you’ve been itching to explore, a resume and three examples of your best work.

Skills, experience and abilities should include:
-          Radio reporting and editing
-          Exceptional writing
-          Work on multiple stories and deadlines
-          Internal and external communications
